동경의 신주쿠의 중앙에 있는 JR역을 중심으로 동쪽과 서쪽으로 나뉘어 있다. 사진에서 보이는 신주쿠의 서쪽은 도심 개발 이후 동경의 업무지구로 고층건물이 들어서 있다. 신주쿠의 오쿠보에서 서쪽 업무 지구까지의 도심의 스케일의 변화를 바라 볼 수 있는 곳이기도 하다.
