There is an elevator going to the first basement floor on the backside if you rode the subway towards Seoul Station and on the front side if you rode the subway towards Sadang Station. There is another elevator on the left-hand side of exit 2 going to the ground floor on the first basement floor.

Yeon-gyeongdang house has the living space of 99 rans, which is the regulation size maximum permitted The yan-gban, a hereditary aristocratic class based on scholarship and official position rather than wealth. The style of con-struction, the layout and the surroundings including pond, brook and tiers of flower bed are representative of yangban residence of the times. King Sunjo had this house construc-ted in 1828 as a place to experience the lifestyle of the yang-ban class. Whenever the king was in this house he dressed like a yangban and ate the same food a yangban would. Crossing a stone bridge one enters through the gate Jan-gnangmun and there, to the right, is a middle gate Jan-gnangmun which leads to men's quarters and to the left is another gate Suinmun which leads to women's quarters. Though the two quarters appear to be separated by a low wall, they are actually connected. There is a separate quarters behind women's quarters. Seonhyang-jae library with a pent roof on the west side of the build-ing is in the east of men's quarters and farther to its east is Nongsujeong pavilion which has a square roof topped with a finial Jeolbyeongtong. Jongmyo is the royal ancestral shrine which is the only remaining one of this kind in Korea. The shrine stands out among ancient architectural monuments of Korea for its aimple and austere style stressing a solemn atmosphere.
